This artwork is associated with Dilebang
A very long time ago they used to perform Mardayin rituals at Dilebang, but that is finished. The white clay used here is from Kudjarnngal. We squeeze it in our hands to make it into a wet lump. We knead the softened white clay and then we lay it out to dry. Then in the hot sun, it dries and becomes hard. This white clay is from the site Kudjarnngal. Dilebang is connected to that place; Dilebang is not far from there. At the white clay mine at Kudjarnngal there is no Mardayin there, only the human skeletal remains of the people who died in the great drought at Ngandarrayo, nearby.
